DAY 1
SAN JOSE – ALAJUELA (-)
Individual arrival at the international airport of San Jose (SJO). Reception and organized group transfer of about 20 min to your hotel in the mountains. Xandari is a beautiful resort and the perfect start for a Costa Rica family tour.

DAY 2
ALAJUELA (B)
Day at leisure.
Xandari is an ideal destination to start a trip to Costa Rica. The panoramic view of the Central Valley is just as spectacular as the artistic design of the hotel complex. Kids and parents alike will enjoy the many resort facilities, including three pools, a spa, a vegetable garden, and a botanical garden with trails. There are even several waterfalls. Your Costa Rica Family tour has begun – relax!
DAY 3
ALAJUELA – ARENAL / LA FORTUNA (B)
Private transfer from to La Fortuna (about 2h45min) where your adventure starts. La Fortuna is a touristic village a the foot of the volcano Arenal. Check into your hotel.
Later, enjoy a Night Walk Tour at Arenal Natura Park. Explore the forested trails of this private nature reserve. Listen as the jungle comes alive with the activity of nocturnal animals like sloths, armadillos, night birds, and more than 20 species of frogs. Learn about the wildlife of the rainforest.
DAY 4
ARENAL / LA FORTUNA (B/L)
Full-day excursion Caño Negro & Rio Frio Boat tour. Caño Negro should have been named “Green Canyon” thanks to its rich heritage when it comes to biodiversity. Wetlands, native and migratory birds, sloths, caimans, and a great variety of trees, flowers, and plants. You will board a small boat, a sort of floating safari, passing through verdant pastures and forests. Your knowledgeable guide will point out different animals, trees, and birds.
DAY 5
ARENAL / LA FORTUNA (B)
Day at leisure.
Relax at your beautiful hotel or explore more of the area and the volcano. We can organize plenty of other tours too: biking, visit a local indigenous community, canyoning, and lots more.
DAY 6
ARENAL / LA FORTUNA – MONTEVERDE (B)
Today you continue to Monteverde. You will be crossing the Arenal Lake by boat. Look for resident and migratory birds, mammals, and views of the Arenal Volcano.
In the afternoon, you will participate in the Don Juan Coffee Tour. Learn step by step about the procedure involved in the production of coffee. Tasting included. The farm has a typical ox-drawn cart that you can take a ride in. You will also receive an introduction to chocolate and sugarcane production.
DAY 7
MONTEVERDE (B)
Adventure awaits you today! You’ll spend the day at Sky Adventure Park. It is located in one of the most acclaimed cloud forests in the world. First, take an open-air gondola (Sky Tram) to the highest point of the mountain. Here, you’ll be dropped off at an observation area to admire fantastic views. See the surrounding forests, the Arenal Volcano, and the Gulf of Nicoya. Later, you will be able to soar through the mountains at incredible speed, heights, and lengths on zip lines (Sky Trek). Finally, explore the Monteverde Cloud Forest peacefully on a 1.5mi circuit trail that snakes through distinct levels of the wonderfully diverse ecosystem (Sky Walk).
DAY 8
MONTEVERDE – NOSARA (B)
Today you will travel to the Pacific Ocean side of Costa Rica – transfer is about 5 1/4 hrs. Nosara is a small town famous for its yoga and surf. Many people know it as “No shoes, no shirt, Nosara,” which aptly sums things up. Located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the Guanacaste region, the traditional village of Nosara sits six kilometers inland, although the beaches attract the biggest draw.
You will stay Olas Verdes Hotel which is an all-suite boutique hotel, just a short walk through the forest to Playa Guiones. Offering casual luxury, Olas Verdes Hotel has the best location to explore the towns of Guiones and Nosara.
DAYS 9-10
NOSARA (B)
Days at leisure.
Enjoy the beach, the lagoon, the hotel, or book optional tours on site. Favorite activities include canoeing, surfing, boogie boarding or just walking along the beach to find the small natural pool. In some pools, you can even snorkel. Do not miss a visit to the Nosara Game Reserve, where injured or orphaned monkeys and other wildlife are cared for until they can be reintroduced.
DAY 11

Art and architecture are highlights of the Xandari experience in Costa Rica. 24 spacious villas nestled on a 40-acre plantation are surrounded by lush gardens, with terraces facing spectacular views of Costa Rica’s majestic Central Valley day and night. A private forest reserve with rivers, five natural waterfalls, and 2.5 miles of trails offers excellent hiking, birding, and communion with nature. Prima Plus Villa: Guests can enjoy an abundance of space and an idyllic garden in these villas. Each of the villas is a special treasure on its own. Two 68 m² villas on the East Hill offer a magnificent panorama view of the Central Valley. They feature a sleeping alcove with a King-size bed plus a sofa bed in the main area. The other two villas on the West Hill are 55 m² in size. Each villa features an impressive, colorful ambiance blended with a creative design. These villas offer two double beds and a sofa bed.
Arenal Springs Resort ****
Arenal Springs is a hotel that will make you feel home. Built on a slope of a soft hill with lovely views of the Arenal Volcano, this eco-friendly and contemporary hotel welcomes its guests with open arms in a friendly atmosphere. In the awesome pool with natural hot springs and a swim-up bar, you can treat yourself to your favorite drink after a day of touring the surroundings. There is a large variety of flowers and fruit trees for birds to feed on, so birders and people who love nature will truly love this. At least 131 species have been spotted and recorded on the hotel’s own grounds; most of them can be seen regularly. Natria Spa is a real treat, a brilliant way to relax while surrounded by a mystic volcanic ambiance. The hotel is a tropical Eden with amazing well-kept grounds and indulging volcano views and provides maximum comfort on an environmentally friendly basis.
The spacious and comfortable Junior Suites come in pairs spread over the property. They are equipped with either a King-size or two Queen-size beds. Monteverde Lodge & Gardens ***(*)
The 25-room lodge is located on a generous property in the heart of the cloud forest. Its location is very convenient for visiting downtown Santa Elena and also to the nearby ecological sanctuary. It is a very quiet place perfect for hiking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, horseback riding, and a great base for exploring the Monteverde and Santa Elena reserves.
This lodge was built to be ecologically friendly: the lights are dim, the water is mainly heated by solar panels on the hotel roof, and there are no TVs or radios – but who needs these anyway with the cloud forest at one’s fingertips? The lodge has a very nice bar with a laid-back atmosphere where you can enjoy your favorite cocktail in the evening. And if you are a keen observer, you will certainly enjoy identifying the many birds and animals that visit the lodge gardens. The heated pool or the spa is nice for a refreshing swim or relaxing treatment after a day full of action. And from the viewpoint, you can enjoy nice views of the surroundings.
Forest View Downstairs: These pleasant accommodations have a nice table and two chairs near the window to look at the cloud forest and animals. They are equipped with either two double beds or one King-size bed and two of them are wheelchair accessible. If you are the nature-lover-observing type you may get to see monkeys on the trees right outside your window! The view is so beautiful that you could comfortably spend a couple of hours sitting by the window just relaxing.
Olas Verdes Boutique Hotel ***(*)
