Begin your adventure in Bogotá, a fascinating city where colonial history meets modern Colombian culture. Explore the atmospheric streets of La Candelaria and visit the renowned Museo del Oro, home to one of the world’s most important collections of pre-Hispanic gold artifacts.
Villa de Leyva
Travel into the Andean countryside to romantic Villa de Leyva, one of Colombia’s most enchanting colonial towns. Admire its whitewashed buildings, flower-filled balconies, traditional wooden doors, and cobblestone streets. With its beautifully preserved historic center and spectacular surrounding landscapes, Villa de Leyva feels like stepping back in time.
Cartagena
Your journey continues to Colombia’s Caribbean coast and the unforgettable city of Cartagena. DAY 1
ARRIVAL IN BOGOTA & TRANSFER (-)
Individual arrival at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá (BOG). Transfer to your art deco-style boutique hotel located in the historic La Candelaria district of Bogotá. Check in.
DAY 2
BOGOTÁ CITY TOUR (B)
Visit Bogotá’s main square, Plaza de Bolívar, and the government buildings around it, then enter the nearby Candelaria old town, the city’s colonial center.
We will then visit the San Francisco Church and the world-famous Museo Del Oro (closed on Mondays), which contains more than 30.000 pre-Columbian gold artifacts.
End with a cable car ride to the summit of Monserrate Hill, Bogotá’s best-known landmark, for wonderful views of the city and beyond.
DAY 3
BOGOTA – VILLA DE LEYVA (B)
Your day starts with an early morning departure from Bogotá, heading north. After 2 hours, we arrive at one of Colombia’s most significant national monuments: the Boyacá Bridge. On this bridge, Simón Bolívar won his most decisive battle against Spanish settlers.
Upon arrival in Villa de Leyva, you will visit the main square and enjoy the magic of this beautifully preserved colonial town.
DAY 4
VILLA DE LEYVA (B)
DAY 5
VILLA DE LEYVA – CARTAGENA (B)
Transfer back to Bogotá; en route, visit Ráquira, a village of quaint, colorful small houses famous for its pottery and ceramics.
Flight to Cartagena de Indias. Welcome by the local travel guide. Transfer to your hotel for 2 nights.
The rest of the day is at your disposal.
DAY 6
CARTAGENA (B)
Today, enjoy a half-day tour of Cartagena, one of the most impressive urban centers in Latin America. This ancient city was built in the Spanish colonial style and is surrounded by high defensive walls. Don’t be surprised if you fall in love with Cartagena’s intoxicating mix of history and Caribbean charm. The tour takes us around all the historic buildings and plazas of the old city, including the La Popa Convent and San Felipe Castle.
The afternoon is free for exploring the old city or bathing in the Caribbean Sea.
DAY 7
CARTAGENA DEPARTURE (B)
Transfer to the airport and return flight (or start of a coffee region or beach extension).
