About the San Blas Islands

The breathtakingly beautiful San Blas islands is an autonomous region that consists of 365 small palm-lined islands, of which 49 are inhabited. They lie off the north coast of the Isthmus of Panama, east of the Panama Canal. The comarca Guna Yala along the Caribbean coast of Panama is home to the indigenous Guna people.

Due to its secluded location, it is a perfect spot to relax and take a break. Some islands are tiny, with little more than a dusting of sand and a few palm trees. Others have small shacks or basic hotels, while a few are more developed and home to large Guna communities with their own schools and churches.

Sailing the San Blas Islands

The best way to experience the most pristine beaches and the truly dreamlike home of the Guna tribe is from the deck of a sailing ship. The San Blas Archipelago is without any doubt one of the most colorful and beautiful parts of Panama, if not the world.

On our San Blas sailing cruise, you will get to know some of the little islands as well as the interesting culture of the Guna. The Guna are the native people that inhabit the San Blas Islands. They are one of the few indigenous American tribes to remain mostly untouched by the colonial era.

Enjoy the turquoise waters and the fine white-sanded beaches, explore the amazing underwater world and relax in the hammock with a fresh coconut in your hand – you will feel like Robinson Crusoe!

Afraid of getting seasick? The sea at the San Blas Islands is very calm almost all year round.

Isla Pelicano – one of the many San Blas islands. Look familiar? If you watched “Money Heist” on Netflix, you have probably seen it there!

This is what San Blas sailing guests had to say:

We had the BEST time! Thank you very much for such a memorable and adventurous experience. It surpassed any expectations we had, and we are still raving about the food (sooooo good!). We definitely want to return and do this all over again.

Many Thanks,
Anna and Erik Little

We had an amazing trip and loved every minute of it. Ninô and Isabel were great! The transportation was flawless and we were sad to leave. Thank you for all the communication and for making our trip the best so far! Aimee Pourroy

Hi, We just wanted to rave about our great trip with Nino and Roney on the Nikita! Anne and I had an amazing, relaxing, delicious, and fun-filled four days cruising around the San Blas Islands. We’re telling all our friends about our great trip and we hope your business grows, but only enough that the islands are not too cramped with the tourist crowds. Thanks so much! Steve & Anne Muntz

Our family of 4 had a fabulous 3-day experience, and if you are thinking of sailing the San Blas Islands, look no further. JC was our very experienced captain and Roney was his wonderful assistant. The islands are gorgeous, we enjoyed learning about the Guna people, and JC and Roney were incredible hosts and went out of their way to make the experience enjoyable for us. At the end of the trip, Roney even took my daughter and I to his village and introduced us to his family members so that we could learn more about the Guna lifestyle and culture. Christina Stoney
